Speaker 1:

Oh, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome, or welcome back to soap floor, the official gathering place for newbies, novices and all you OG diehard fans of the golden age of primetime. I'm your host, jet, reviewing and viewing the sopiest, suddiest primetime storylines of the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. We're going back to 1983, season four, episode two of Dynasty Bungalow. So, whether you're new to this or true to this, sit back and enjoy. Tell the kids it's time to play outside or, out of sight, tell babe no questions, suggestions or concerns for the next 25 to 35 minutes and everyone else in earshot, cool, quiet or kicked out Period. Those are the only options. We've got to get to the bottom of our stories. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, this is Soap Lure floor. What's up? Party people? Welcome and welcome back to another fun show to this, and if so, we're going to jump right in Season four, episode two.

Speaker 1:

I've learned nothing at all. From watching over a hundred episodes of Vintage Primetime Soapworks. I'm learning pretty quickly that season four seems to be. It's a brand new territory. You get to scrape the plate clean, start over. Rebrand this show as you see fit. Dynasty is keeping in time with what we want from Dynasty. They are shiny, they are glossy, they are funny. Everyone's a little bit richer than you, and that's what they need. That's what they need to portray the most so far.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to do things a little bit differently today. I'm going to give you the full rundown of this episode in under 10 minutes and then we'll come back with some particulars. We got to discuss Kirby's amazing equestrian skills. Adam's new villain arc Is he on the up and up or is he on the straight and narrow? We'll never know Steven as a new businessman. I totally forgot that Steven was a capable and fully functioning man who could run a business. I mean, he whined so much the first three seasons I totally forgot that he actually was like bright enough to do this. Is Jeff filling himself? Is the power going to his head a little bit? Is Alexis the bravest or the dumbest person on the show? Is Crystal finding her footing? Is Blake the best detective this show has ever seen? All these questions will be answered on this fun-filled edition. All right, guys, let's jump into the retro review. Grab yourself something bubbly, Get comfortable. Let's get into this.

Speaker 1:

Season four, episode two, bungalow. Episode four went a little something like this we find mark jennings in handcuff in a black turtleneck sports coat at the hospital being sent to his demise. Right, he's going to jail and crystal's super pissed about it. The officer, formerly known as gary ewing, lets crystal know in no uncertain terms that he is an officer of the law. He makes the decision Mark's going to jail period. This does not go over well with Crystal. She's super pissed and this reeks of Carrington corruption. She knows Blake had something to do with this and probably Alexis too. Crystal's over Blake's pathetic attempts to woo her back. So having Mark tossed in jail isn't going to help his case. She's firm in her belief that not only did Mark save her, but she thinks he meant no harm to Alexis either. I mean well, maybe, maybe not. He definitely didn't mean to harm Crystal and he definitely saved them. The rest is, you know, that remains to be seen.

Speaker 1:

Meanwhile, back at the mansion, tony now you may not remember Tony, he's not been on the show very many times. He's popped up here and there to give you know a little, this, a little, that Tony shows up shirtless. He's got all of his man chesticles out, greased up on top of a horse, informs Fallon that Kirby is. She's on the men, he's on a horse too. Let me just paint that picture A shirtless, fully chesticle revealing Tony rides up on his trusty steed to tell Fallon, who's in normal clothing in a car, that Kirby took a terrible fall from Samson, the actual stallion, or bucking bronco, the biggest, roughest horse on the on the mansion grounds. Fallon goes upstairs to check on Kirby, who's still like, fully dressed, she's just laid across the bed resting. No blood, no nothing. And Fallon, convinced she's like hey, girl, everything's gonna be okay. I too didn't want to have Jeff's baby, turns out. Jeff has great stock, his kids are gorgeous, they're gonna be bright, you're gonna be okay. She's not reading this correctly, but Kirby's not in the mood to give any details, no particulars, given she lies in bed just reeling from the fact that she still has this unwanted pregnancy.

Speaker 1:

Back at the hospital, blake goes over to Alexis's room and tells her that Mark has been arrested and she can rest easy. Well, she does just that and she begins to tell Blake about Mark and Fallon. Of course she omits the part about her having a total affair with him. She leaves all that out. Blake mulls over what she says. It's like you know what. You're an accidental hero. People might actually start liking you one day. She's feeling herself a little bit as blake goes about his day to do some detective work, complete with the mcgruff crime dog jacket. We don't see it in this scene, but he's definitely wearing one, trust me. Okay. So they're flip-flopping back and forth back at the mansion.

Speaker 1:

Crystal pulls up and, uh, she tells fallon about mark being arrested. Fallon is unbothered by this information because she knows who her mother is, she knows who her father is and the two of them together. She's like there was no way Mark was going to walk away from this unscathed. It is what it is. Welcome to the Carrington's. She goes about her business. She does tell Crystal about Kirby. So Crystal goes upstairs to Kirby to check on her sister and Kay and she's like babe, don't worry about it.

Speaker 1:

Crystal unfortunately gives Kirby terrible news about her pregnancy and the possibility of birthing a healthy baby in no time at all. Now Kirby freaks out quietly to herself because she knows whose spawn she's carrying. She don't want to have this baby. That baby's gonna be good and crazy. She don't want it. Crystal misunderstands Kirby's tears as relief and she's like you know, don't worry about, just because I fell off the same horse and lost my baby doesn't mean you will. It's going to be great Kirby. Kirby freaks out and is like it's not Jeff's baby. And then she oh, oh, my God, oh, just kidding, she can't. But I'm thinking she's cool because Crisel's not one to run off and gossip. She'll keep that business to herself, all right.

Speaker 1:

Blake's detective work takes him to the office of Morgan Hess. Now, if you remember, morgan Hess is a guy that Alexis had hired to be the PI. Only he tried to shake her down for 50K. She didn't go. That didn't go over very well. So when Blake arrives to Morgan Hess's office, this guy is like it's like dirty. He's been beaten up and he asked Blake if that black haired witch sent him there. Before you know it, blake gets beside himself. He loses his cool yokes. A guy up threatens his life and Morgan Hess confesses that as much as he would love to be the person who tried to kill Alexis, that's unfortunately not the case. He was getting his ass beat right about the time that their cabin went up in smoke.

Speaker 1:

We're flip-flopping back again back at the mansion. Jeff rushes home to comfort Kirby. He heard about her fall from Samson and when he gets there, jeanette the chatty, chatty maid the one who told her how Crystal fell off a horse and lost the baby tells Jeff. Kirby is up walking around. I told her, mr Jeff told her she should be laying down and resting. I like that. Jeanette is a little bit too chatty. She's unintentionally messy, which I think is going to come in handy very, very soon.

Speaker 1:

Jeff finds Kirby out by the pond. She's still freaking out. She can't really say anything. She's probably a little bit nervous that she slipped and told Crystal that it's not Jeff's baby. But all she wants to talk about right now is where's my dad. My dad, dad's been gone. He's not supposed to be taking a day off and right about this time Joseph robotically shows up sounding eerily like Liam Neeson. I don't know what's going on with him, but there's something going on with his voice. He assures Kirby that he's back. He loves her and he would never let anyone harm her. He'll do anything in his power to keep her from harm.

Speaker 1:

Now at Colby Co, things are going well. People are making deals. Of course Jeff is running things. Adam is super pissed off about this. Stephen stops by to talk to him and he ends up. Adam ends up just kind of going off about how it's bs, that it's not him or Stephen running the company.

Speaker 1:

How is Jeff Jeff's not even blood. What is he doing? He forget that's. It's called Colby Co. Jeff is actually blood, just not. We're not even gonna get to that. We'll get to that here in a second. Stephen takes all this in and he's like dude, I came by to be cool with you, but I don't really like what you're saying. Jeff is like a brother to me. He works really hard. He is the least scandalous person on this cast, which I have to agree with, and he deserves all of his success. Matter of fact, bro, I going to keep an eye on you because now I know you feel the way. I'm definitely watching you like a hawk. Okay, adam, stand there. Just. He stands there, just seating like damn it. Second person in his family who's rejected him that day.

Speaker 1:

Crystal shows up to visit Alexis. I guess the Carrington's are making their round. She shows up to Alexis's hospital, hospital room. Alexis has had a change of clothes. She is back in purple silk and a purple turban, eating caviar, having a little mukbang of rich people finger foods. Crystal shows up in cream, as you know, but she's flecked with gold because she has somewhere to be, she has money to spend. She just wanted to come by and tell Alexis how dumb it is that she had Mark arrested, like literally.

Speaker 1:

You think Mark is the one who tried to set us on fire and save us. Now Lex is not one to be out petty. He says, well, maybe he did, maybe he didn't, maybe it was Blake. Hell, maybe Blake put a hit out on you and I just happened to be caught in the crosshairs I mean, I'm his first wife. He definitely tried to kill me. Why wouldn't he try to kill you?

Speaker 1:

Crystal's not falling, for you know, she's dressed to fly to be upset by this and she's like Alexis, you're mad. I know why you got Mark arrested. You're mad because Mark didn't want you. That's your problem. That's your problem. You don't know how to let things go. You got big man. Mark don't want you. So now he's in jail and the real killer is walking around here waiting to kill you.

Speaker 1:

It is at that moment that it actually clicks in Alexis's head like oh, my god, she's probably right. Like, if I deduce, one plus one is two, he hate me, not you. Uh-oh, matching gas go boom. Oh shit, somebody is probably looking for me to kill me. Well, this spoils her whole appetite. Crystal, of course leaves. Crystal and cream leaves. Alexis can't even enjoy the rest of her mukbang because now she's like dang it. Somebody's really trying to kill me.

Speaker 1:

After checking on his bride, jeff heads back to colby co where he right you know where he belongs to chastise adam for making some money move in hong kong. It was an unauthorized transaction. Jeff doesn't appreciate it. So adam tries to bite his tongue and like okay, I'm gonna be respectful or whatever, cause your last name is Colby or whatever. But you know, you, you act irrationally, adam, you have no self-control. You need to practice some self-control. Okay, you're too impulsive. Adam isn't really giving him a lot of lip. You know what I'm saying. Adam is smart, he's a lawyer, he's doing all the things, things. He's not giving him a lot of lip. But for whatever reason, jeff is feeling himself and he takes it a little too far. Jeff says you know what you think you're some hot shot from montana, who's going to be the big man in politics, but around here you're just the hired. Help. Oh, this is the second or third time. Adam has been insulted that day and it is starting to wear on him.

Speaker 1:

Meanwhile, at the jail cell, I guess crystal's on her way to charity event. She had to stop by and see mark too. She sees him in his um, his cell. They're chatter, chatter, chittering and before it's all said and done, the judge, the bailiff or whoever comes in and say, hey, jennings, you can leave now, your bail's been set, or whatever he can leave. And no sooner than he says that, we see, see Blake walking down the hall in his McGruff the Crime Dog jacket, telling Crystal you know it was the right thing to do. Blah, blah, blah. Meanwhile he's still investigating people.

Speaker 1:

Blake talks to the congressman who is still drunk Three days later. He's still schnockered beyond belief and he's like listen, I absolutely made plans to go and kill alexis. Only I wasn't gonna burn her alive, I was gonna shoot her or strangle her. It was one or the other. But yeah, uh, lighting stuff on fire is not in my wheelhouse. Only I got too drunk and also I'm a coward. So unfortunately, blake, I would love to take credit for this, wasn't me.

Speaker 1:

Oh gosh, alexis is resting peacefully in her bed when someone, dressed and as a doctor comes in. Actually they're dressed as a surgeon, like they. They have on the gloves, they have on the head thing. They're covered from head to toe. They grab a pillow from the other side of the room and begin to smother her. Only Alexis has been lifting bags of money lately, so her forearm strength is on point. She's able to fight him off. They drop the pillow, they take off running. She's able to scream. The nurse comes running in and she's like lady, I'm so sorry, I only saw the doctor. I didn't see anyone else come in here. She goes home to recover in peace and now she's got this brand new short haircut. Okay, I see you, alexis, which is why she had on the turban, I suppose, which doesn't matter, because she wears a lot of wigs. Anyway, stay focused.

Speaker 1:

Yet she gets to her penthouse. Steven comes to see her and, unbeknownst to her, adam is in the bathroom showering. He comes out sopping wet and he overhears her. Tell Stephen how he's the only one of her children who really, really cares for her. Now, this is all Adam can take. He has been patiently waiting to be a good person all this time and this was just a straw that breaks a camel's back. Remember, adam is also off his meds, so on. He confronts her and says you know what, alexis? Wow, I love you. I do all these things because I love you. You kick me out, you, you. You take away my power at work. You snatch me away from your will. And she's like what are you talking about? I didn't take you out of the will, you're back in the will. I just said that because I was upset. Don't worry about it. Enough is enough.

Speaker 1:

Though Jeff, who's still on this, you know he's still feeling himself. He approaches blake about stopping alexis at colbyco. He's saying you know what, blake? I think we should strike while the iron is hot. Alexis is on the men. There's not a whole lot she can do. Adam's out of power. I'm running colbyco as I should. Why don't we go ahead and put just eliminate this whole merger thing so you don't have to worry about it? Now Blake is flattered because quiet is kept.

Speaker 1:

Jeff is his favorite child, even if that's not his real child. If he could scrape the rest of them off, scrape them off the side of a mountain and start all over, he would pretend that Jeff was his kid, but he's like you know. As much as I appreciate that we're gonna. We're gonna let this play out a little bit differently, but I appreciate you coming over. Plus he, in not so many words, admits that Alexis has way too much clout and he just don't have that right now. He can't really, he can't really go toe-to-toe with her at this moment because she's her and he's not him.

Speaker 1:

So after a long, hard day of investigative journalism, blake is no sooner to finding Alexis's real killer or attempted murderer than he was at the beginning of the show. He starts thinking when all of a sudden the phone rings and we see that it's Joseph. Joseph is at a payphone by the train tracks and he is he's. He's out of his mind a little bit. Maybe he's dehydrated, maybe he accidentally drank something. Somebody gave him some sort of weird drugs. He's talking gibberish. He's only able to mumble a few words. It kind of makes sense. I ran, or I don't know what he says. He says something. He's mumbling, mumbling, mumbling.

Speaker 1:

Jeff and Blake get in the car to run over. While they're doing this, adam tells Alexis he's moving out of her house. He can no longer live under the same roof as her. I love you. I just can't love you like this. I'm out. I'm out. I'm out, blake and Jeff get in the car to try to figure out.

Speaker 1:

Okay, what is he saying, joseph? They think Joseph at home. So he goes and Blake starts replaying the whole conversation in his head and he he says, did he say something about being unleashed? No, no, no, he didn't say unleash, he said Alicia, oh my god. He said the house and he said Alicia. Now watch this back a couple times. I didn't hear that, but that's what Blake heard. So Blake remembers that Alicia and Joseph used to live in a little bungalow with his wife. It's a house that Kirby grew up in, which doesn't make sense. We'll get into that. In a little bungalow with his wife, it's a house that Kirby grew up in which doesn't make sense. We'll get into that in a second.

Speaker 1:

Sure enough, we see Joseph in the bungalow and he is. He's out of sorts. I don't know what he's either breathing in gas. I don't know what's going on, but he has made a decision in his mind. He has to see that through.

Speaker 1:

Before the end of this episode, we have to bid farewell to stiff, stiff corpse of a person, joseph, who is an actual corpse now on the show. That's it. That's all for that episode. Okay, okay, I have to admit I did not do that scene justice. It does. It's a little more dramatic than that. So let's go back to the office.

Speaker 1:

Blake decides we're not gonna challenge Alexis right now because she has more clout than us. Let's just be cool. Phone rings. Joseph is jibber-jabbering, blah, blah, blah. It sounds like he might have huffed a little bit of that paint that Adam used to try to kill Jeff. That's what it seems like. He's totally out of sorts.

Speaker 1:

Immediately Blake's the back. The hair on the back of his neck stands up. He hangs up and they go smoke. They go to the house. Now, he and Jeff being blue bloods, they start looking at all the places that the help would go. Is he folding, is he making up a bed? No, is he cleaning the kitchen? No, where the hell is he? So Blake starts to think okay, okay, okay, he said house unleashed, house unleashed. Oh my God. No, no, no, not house unleashed, house Alicia. Jeff's like who's Alicia? Enter new character who we have yet to meet.

Speaker 1:

Telling you season four you can start to rewrite history a little bit. You got to be a little bit more creative. Season two they brought Alexis out of the woodwork. Season three we got Steven with a brand new face. Season four, alicia Kirby's mother is gonna pop in. This was his wife. So this is very interesting to me because I would assume she's dead if not for Alexis kind of hinting at that a couple of episodes ago.

Speaker 1:

So anyway, they get in the car and it must be the worst day for traffic in Denver because they're driving and Blake is running off of memory. He doesn't exactly remember the address, but he just knows it was on the industrial side of town, I'm assuming, because everywhere they drive through there's like it's an industrial house, I mean an industrial part of town. There are box trucks, there are jalopies, there are hoopties, everybody's having car problems, People pulled over with their hood popped up. The closer they get to the house, the more traffic jams they get from actual non-traffic. It's just raggedy cars, box trucks. You know stuff like that. To let you know that this is not a quote unquote nice side of town.

Speaker 1:

They finally get to the street and Blake's like okay, it's, look for a little bungalow. Now this is where that blue blood talk starts to speak, because I'm thinking to myself they all look like regular houses to me. But if I were a wealthy billionaire with guest houses, and I flew to different parts of the world. It'd probably be a distinction between my house and those, but, as would have it, jeff is just as rich as Blake. He's able to point oh, there's a small bungalow there and I think, I think that's Joseph's car. So they pull up and they begin knocking on the door when Jeff notices there is a note, a handwritten note, sealed in an envelope, that says Blake Carrington. Blake rips it out, reads it and just no, no.

Speaker 1:

Meanwhile inside we have been watching Joseph slowly load a gun. He poured out like 90 bullets. He picked out six, he put them inside the gun and I looked at the newspaper. I thought maybe the newspaper he said it on was going to give us a clue, but it doesn't really seem to say much. He's struggling, he's still out of sorts and Blake's freaking out because now he's reading the note and I guess it's a goodbye note. So he tries to slam the door open with his shoulder. But then he remembers oh, I'm old, jeff, get your young self over here, ram this door open for me. Jeff's able to get it pushed open just in the nick of time. Just as we hear the gunshot pow, we see Joseph with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and that's it. That's all. Jeff runs to call the ambulance while Blake holds Joseph, just in a state of shock. Why, joseph? Why? Impressive.

Speaker 1:

It occurred to me that this isn't the first, second or fourth time that blake carrington has been mcgruff the crime dog and figured out where someone is or where they're going or some major clue to something. This is his strong suit making business deals. No, having a great marriage absolutely not. Raising well-adjusted children Not a chance in hell. But solving mysteries. That's what he needs to stick to. That's what he should have been doing this whole time.

Speaker 1:

I would believe that he was this savvy Columbo type. I've never seen Columbo in my life, but I know that's the detective right. Yeah, he could be on Law and Order, he's definitely one of those. But yeah, joseph decided to end his life. Now I'm ready for this story to come to a head because, if I remember correctly, he went to Europe or something right, he was only gone a couple of days, but I seem to remember him going to take care of business. I thought he was going to get dirt on Alexis, which he probably did, but it looks like it may have something to do with his ex-wife or dead wife or current wife Hell, I don't know. I love how on a soap opera they just bring people out of the woodworks and we're supposed to just accept that they've always been there in the periphery of the show Works for me. Goodbye, joseph man. I didn't see that coming. Seems like a useless kill, but it would explain why Jeanette is so chatter, chatter, chittery all episode long. I wonder what this is going to do to Kirby. Kirby is not having a very good day.

Speaker 1:

Blake mentions that this is the house that Kirby was born in, not that she necessarily grew up in, and as I watched her navigate that horse situation so well, I thought to myself see this, this is the downside of growing up. Even Silver Spoon adjacent she took the same riding lessons as a Carrington. She went to the same schools. She learned the same languages. It's just a matter of class, really there. But there's no difference in the way she was raised versus the way they were raised. Not really there. But there's no difference in the way she was raised versus the way they were raised. Not really.

Speaker 1:

And unfortunately, because she is so talented and she was gifted years and years of horseback riding lessons. She couldn't even do that right. She couldn't even make herself fall off a horse at the proper time because that muscle memory kicked in. And she's like girl I am a champion. There's. She's fine no broken bones, no bruises. She was laid in and she's like girl I am a champion. She's fine no broken bones, no bruises. She was laid in the bed asleep like nothing happened.

Speaker 1:

Only now she's still pregnant. She's going to start showing. I just thought about this later on too, when the doctor told her that she was due in. What did he say? She's due. She's like six months pregnant. She thinks she's three months. He's like no, you're a little closer to six. She should be good and showing by now, but she's not. So it's only a matter of time before this that the cat's going to be out of the bag and no one's really questioning her, other than ballon, as to why she's trying to ride this horse while she's pregnant. I guess the fact that crystal did it while she was pregnant shows that women 1982-83 didn't mind riding horses. But only Fallon is like okay, I know what you tried to do, but it's cool. Like Jeff's a good guy. She's like not that I don't like Jeff, it's just I don't want to have Adam's kid. That's going to be really destructive. But I do look forward to Adam gloating about this later on. He's going to be so excited. I cannot wait.

Speaker 1:

Adam, adam, adam oh, it's no secret that I adore a villain. I think they are the most multifaceted people on the show. They have the much they're just the most creative. They keep the show running, and Adam is no exception. Only he's been playing it cool for the probably the last five or six episodes, including the last couple of season three.

Speaker 1:

He's been laying low. He's turned over a new leaf. He really is trying to run his mother's company with success and, by all intents and purposes, he seems to be very, very good at it. He is a lawyer, he is savvy, he is ruthless, he is Blake and Alexis Carrington's son. Period Only when he turned over this new leaf and decided that he is enjoying being a part of a family where he at least wants to. He's not been. He's not been received.

Speaker 1:

Well, I don't understand that. When it comes to the kids, I don't see where Fallon or Stephen actually have anything to lose by embracing Adam. Granted, he and Fallon almost hooked up, or they were at least flirting, which they all love to skate over. But okay, stephen, I just don't get. I really don't get. I can see that maybe he thinks that Adam is a little bit sleazy which he is but so is everyone else surrounding him. Now, stephen is prudish to me. I've always thought that. But he is fair. So when he stood up for Jeff, when Adam was like yo, we should be running this company, we are the heirs, why aren't we running the company? I felt like it could have been handled a different way.

Speaker 1:

But I'm also looking at this out of the eyes of someone who knows that Adam is off his meds, the eyes of someone who knows that Adam is off his meds. He flushed his medication down the toilet a long time ago and he's like listen, I'm out here on hope and a prayer. I'm trying to be your brother, steven. I'm trying to be your son, alexis. I'm trying to be cool with y'all. But I swear to God, you're about to turn me back to the old me.

Speaker 1:

Nowadays everybody want to talk, talk, but they got something to say, but nothing comes out when they move their lips, just a bunch of gibberish. Like joseph, and you mofos act like you forgot adam was off the rails. Oh, I love it. So not only is he rejected by steven, he has been demoted and he has to kind of kiss the ring of Jeff Colby, which I mean, it's Jeff Colby of Colby Co. That is to be expected, but Jeff also took his girl. Mind you, adam doesn't deserve Colby. He is very excuse me, kirby, he is very rapey, and not that that is an excuse, but I'm just saying it's not helping the case going forward, this kid he's.

Speaker 1:

But I'm just saying it's not helping the case going forward, this kid he's. I mean, he's ticking off all the losses Lost my girl, lost my mom, lost my job. My siblings don't want anything to do with me. Then I come out of the shower trying to watch the residue of just rejection off of my body, when, what do I see? My mom and her terrible new haircut gloating to my baby brother that he's the only one who loves her and he's like you know what. I am so sick and tired of trying to earn this crap. I'm done, though. I didn't mention this before, but you know where he leaves. He leaves Alexis's apartment, basically telling her he doesn't want the kind of love she has to give, because now he knows it's not unconditional, and he's already bent over backwards to be the best son for her, which is true, but on the other hand, coming from where Alexis is coming from, like I know, you tried to paint Jeff into a coffin. How do I know you're not doing the same thing to me? It's only fair, and it just occurred to me that two of the four members of her family have tried to kill her. Stephen is probably the only person who's never thought about it. Anyway, adam's out, but you know where he's going to go live. You guessed it La Mirage. Yes, la Mirage seems to be the max of this, like what the max is to say by the bell. So is La Mirage to Dynasty.

Speaker 1:

When I first started watching the show, I don't think I knew what it was about. I just knew it was called Dynasty. I knew they were rich. I didn't really know it was about oil, and I tend to forget that as this show goes on. I can remember that on Dallas, because they actually say the word oil a lot more, but here it's more scandal and it's about the business. So I forget that they are running. No, that's not true. I don't forget that they're running a business.

Speaker 1:

But Steven coming into the picture and now he's in suits, now he's at the office. I'm still not quite used to seeing that, but I forgot. Steven is kind of that dude. He's taken the time, he's taken the last three seasons to whine a lot, to run away even more, to work on the ground floor. So he has an insight that the rest of the people on the show don't, because he's actually been there firsthand and then he has this pedigree. So it actually couples to something that's really, really interesting. I hope they play that up a little bit more.

Speaker 1:

I love seeing Steven in the office, but I am ready for his baby mama drama. I'm hoping Sammy Joe comes back on the show very, very soon. Um, damn, I forgot his kid's name, his kids. Is his kid's name joseph? No, what's his kid's name? Baby stephen was. It was a no-show this episode. I mean baby joseph from falcon curse. I'm sorry, he just has my attention when it comes to all the children.

Speaker 1:

John ross, ewing the third is windmilling himself into my heart. He is kicking and screaming at every ewing man that they put him up against. But I guess baby blake and baby danny that's his name. I guess they're still babies quote unquote. They're not toddlers. Quite yet I hadn't seen either one of them, but it's only the second episode, steven as a father, interesting enough.

Speaker 1:

Well, I want to see him turn into a ruthless businessman. I want to see him turn into a ruthless businessman. I want to see him crush his father at his own game. It's the only way this show is ever going to make any sense to me. Speaking of pedigree and experience and savvy, jeff is feeling himself.

Speaker 1:

I said Adam is having a villain arc we don't know about. I think Adam's villain arc is back. It's stronger than ever. I think it was derailed for a minute, but he's going to go back to the lab and he's going to figure out a way to sabotage these people who have been ruthless to him. So what does that mean for Jeff? Now, jeff, rightfully so.

Speaker 1:

If you take away the drama, if you put this into perspective like a good business deal, it only makes sense that Jeff run Colby Co. He is the heir. His uncle brought him up to run it. He is intelligent, he knows a business. He has been in that company for many, many years. It only makes sense that he runs it. But now that he's gotten the reins back, oh, he was feeling himself. How dare you? He called Adam the help help. That was just team too much.

Speaker 1:

Now, the way they played off in the show it seems like he was thinking about Kirby, and that could be it. Kirby just fell off a horse. Today he's already a little bit worried about her, a little bit irritated, but he don't know that that's Adam's baby. He has no idea. He only knows that he caught Adam about to rape her one time. He doesn't know about the other incident because she didn't tell anybody. So to just kind of come in there guns blazing, real cocky, it wasn't to defend his wife's honor, it wasn't to do anything other than to put this kid in his place. Because Jeff made Alexis call Adam and tell him Jeff is running things. So he went in there to gloat and I just thought, jeff, you don't know the half of it, baby, you mess with the wrong unmedicated man.

Speaker 1:

Without a shadow of a doubt, alexis is the best part of this show. She's so much fun to watch and part of it for me is that she is so mischievous. She clearly knows there's real danger. She clearly knows that what she says has like real life consequences, but she doesn't really seem to care. Her focus has been getting back on her bully. She's running the company, everything's working out, but she made a, like, a crucial mistake this episode. If you have been damn near burnt to a crisp and you were only saved by the hair of your chinny chin chin, by some rando guy that you may or may not have had a deep past with, may or may not have feelings for, what you don't want to do is make sure the guy who tried to burn you alive is out running free. That's the thing. She was so focused on how she couldn't stand Mark this episode that she let that get the best of her. Alexis, we need you around for many, many thing. She was so focused on how she couldn't stand mark this episode, but she let that get the best of her. Alexis, we need you around for many, many more seasons, which we all know she'll be.

Speaker 1:

But it was just kind of sloppy writing or fun writing. I guess maybe they just needed somebody to pin it on. I hate to say it. I hate to say it now is, but it's giving a lot of Dallas. I felt a lot of Dallas residue all over this episode. Now, what it wasn't on was the clothes the silk robe, the purple, the turban oh my God, flawless. She and Crystal looked amazing. Now, neither one of them had any business being that glammed up in the hospital.

Speaker 1:

But here we are. I think we're going to start a segment called I'm way too rich for this ish, because she couldn't just sit in the hospital in regular clothes. She didn't just call for one of her servants to bring a sweatsuit. No, bring me my finest silk crystals. Petty ass could have shown up in whatever, but she's like let me put on my gold and cream and make sure it's sparkly. I'm on my way to a gala. Let me stop by the hospital first. It would never happen, but I'm glad she did.

Speaker 1:

I love to see them up against each other because it's like they're always in contrasting colors. They never you know. They're always you never. You always know who's supposed to be the good one and who's supposed to be the bad one. And I love it.

Speaker 1:

The purple she ate, she ate this whole episode. But she's too rich to eat hospital food. So she had that. Rich people, muck, muck. If only can you imagine being so wealthy that you are comfortable everywhere you go. Feet propped up, pillows brought in, offices rearranged at the drop of a dime, a driver, oh, either way, it's super fun. So someone is still out there ready to do her in. She was smothered for a little bit, fought him off and now she's back to rebuilding her brand. I suppose it doesn't seem like she's going to be on the men very much longer. She's out, she's at home at, she's down Adam, but she still has Jeff and Steven.

Speaker 1:

So I mean, it's super early in the season, but the storyline is so familiar. Now I wonder if, had I never started watching these at the same time? If I would have caught this, I probably would have forgotten. But we had JR in the hospital where that guy comes, or what's his name? Lee, whatever Comes in to gloat, poke fun at him. Then he realizes how vulnerable he is. She's in the hospital. She realizes how vulnerable she is. Is it a coincidence? It could be, because a hospital is a vulnerable place, especially when there is an attempt on your life. Which is the same storyline on both shows. I'm just saying it's also on season four.

Speaker 1:

I'm just saying Dynasty really has just lather rinse, repeated the storylines from Dallas, but they threw a little bit more sparkle at him, since this is our last episode, as far as I know Joseph may or may not be dead. I think he's dead. He got shot in the stomach, which seems like a weird place to shoot yourself. So he may. Maybe he'll be in a coma for a while, but he, he sounded dip. He sounded like Liam Neeson, like identical to him, and then the more I started looking at him, I thought, oh my gosh, are they related? They sound. If they're not related by blood within the last four generations, they definitely share an ancestor somewhere down that train. They need to do that. 23andme, if possible.

Speaker 1:

It's uncanny, but I never fully clocked that because I'm not really listening to Joseph, and Joseph doesn't have really long streams of dialogue. He just kind of says two or three things and he moves on, and it's usually yes, mr Carrington. No, mrs Carrington, those are not your flowers. No one wants to eat ducks, alexis, you're washed up, that sort of thing. But to hear him talk this time and then he was extra corpsey, it was weird. All right, him talk this time and then he was extra corpsey, it was weird. All right, guys, that's it. That's all for this episode.

Speaker 1:

This run a little bit longer than I intended, but that's what happens when you're having so much fun watching these soaps. Join me next time as we jump into season one, episode eight of not landing. We got a stage five clinger, a stalker situation. This one is eerie for all the wrong reasons. In the meantime, in in between time, keep your friends close, your enemies closer and your soap operas close-ish. Treat yourself well, stay hydrated and moisturized, mind your business and keep all of your drama on TV. Thank you.
