Soaplore
Ever wondered what you missed out on before the golden age of streaming? Welcome to Soaplore, the podcast where we dive headfirst into the wonderfully over-the-top world of vintage soap operas from the 80s and 90s. I’m Jett, a TV-loving Millennial who’s finally escaping the monotony of modern shows and embracing the drama, the shoulder pads, and the catfights of yesteryear.
Join me as I experience the soapy sagas of "Dynasty," "Dallas," "Falcon Crest," and "Knots Landing" for the first time, episode by episode. With over 200 shows, we’ll laugh, we’ll cry, and we’ll probably question our life choices—just like the characters do, but with slightly less fabulous wardrobes.
Whether you’re a Gen X kid who grew up with these iconic series, a Xillenial /Millennial like me who missed out the first time around, or a new fan discovering the glorious chaos of primetime soaps, "Soaplore" is your time machine to the melodramatic past. Tune in, relive the magic, and let’s marvel together at how people ever survived without binge-watching.
Pour yourself a glass of something strong, because, trust me, you’ll need it. This isn’t just nostalgia; this is Soaplore—where every episode is a rollercoaster of emotions, and nothing is ever as it seems.

I’m obsessed with vintage primetime soap operas for all the right and wrong reasons: the glamour, the mystery, the scandal, the shade, and the way a single storyline can echo for seasons. But here’s the twist I didn’t expect as a host of a soap opera podcast and a first-time watcher of some of these classics: I’m watching through borrowed nostalgia. I don’t know who’s about to leave the show, who’s about to join, or what the behind-the-scenes drama was. I just get to enjoy the build in real time, and that changes everything. That fresh perspective is fun, but it also means I’ve been missing a key part of what makes soap operas legendary: the community. If you grew up with these iconic shows, you’ve got memories, opinions, and “wait, that’s not what she said” moments that deserve a place to land without spoiling future seasons. So I’m making it easier for us to talk like real humans, not just posts floating into the void. You can still email, but now you can also text me from the show notes, and I can actually text you back. Even better, you can leave a voicemail and tell me about your favorite characters, the storyline that made you furious, or the moment you watched people argue about soaps in public. If you want a stronger vintage soap opera community with spoiler-safe conversation, hit the link, send your note, and let’s build this together. Subscribe, share the show with a fellow soap lover, and leave a review so more fans can find us.
Mini Announcement And Why Soaps Work
SPEAKER_00What's up party people? Welcome back to the Soap Floor announcement. This is an extra mini, extra delicious episode of Soap Floor. I just needed to make a couple of announcements before we get started on our regularly scheduled program. Always been a story first kind of girl, and luckily we are all falling in love or refalling in love with these iconic soap operas. I think it speaks to the longevity of a lot of these shows and their fandom because I find myself now more than ever being attracted to this genre of television. I'm addicted for all the right and all the wrong reasons. I love the glamour, the mystery, the mischief, the murder, the mystery, the scandal, the shade, all of it comes together in this delicious soapper stew that you and I get to feast on even four decades after the fact. So as I sit back and I enjoy these shows, what I'm realizing now is that I have definitely painted myself into a corner. Not in the way you would think, though. It's not that I am swearing off all of modern television. That's not it at all. It's just that when I watch these shows, I'm watching it through borrowed nostalgia. So I don't have the memory of growing up with this and and how exciting it was watching in real time. I just get to enjoy it for what it is. I can't really tell who's about to leave the show, who's about to join the show. I don't know any of the background drama. I just get to enjoy the show for what it is, get to watch it build up on itself. But I realize that's probably not the case for a lot of you who were re-watching it. I hope you are enjoying watching it through my eyes and that it still feels new and fresh. I can't fully take credit for that, but I definitely understand where how that feels. My kids recently started watching The Fresh Prince, and it has been so much fun to watch a show I've seen 150 times over through new eyes. It's been a blast, and it's also been a blast to get to talk to them about different episodes, different topics, what was going on in the world at that time. It is awesome. I realize I'm getting to do that, but I'm missing out on that connection with you guys. That, my friends, is where I have painted myself into a corner, and this is where I need your help. Those of you who reach out via email and text have been absolutely lovely. I feel like I know you, a lot of you. I love that you are sharing your show with me, giving me the good tea without spilling any details. It might be, you know, you're not ruining this for me. I get to enjoy this as you got to enjoy it. And I think that's a unique gift. But I do feel like I'm missing out on this community a little bit. I've tried Facebook, I've tried a couple other platforms, but what I'm finding is that if you are nostalgic about this and you want to just talk about the show, you're gonna talk about the show in its entirety. Your favorite season might be season nine. I'm only on seasons four and five here, so I think I found a solution. You can still reach out to me. It's soapplorepodcast at gmail.com. That's S-O-A-P-L-O-R-E-P-O-D C-A-S-T at gmail.com. Or if you're listening on your mobile device, you can always reach out in the show notes. There is a link that says send me a text or send us a text. Do that now. Normally, if you've been listening to this for a long time, you know this would be the part where I say I can't respond back to you, but I will always, always, always acknowledge you on the air with your permission, of course. Baby, today is a brand new day. I'm still gonna acknowledge you. I'm still gonna acknowledge you on air if you're comfortable with me doing so. But now I can respond back to you. I can text you back. So if you're watching this in the middle of the show, you're like, uh-uh, uh, Jet, you got that all wrong. Angela didn't say this, she said that because it won't won't you won't cool. Let your girl know or be like, oh my god, girl, one time I saw this happen in the grocery store, saw two people fist fighting over Lorenzo Lamos. Whatever you can think of, you can text me in real time and I'm gonna respond to you. You'll those of you who send me things and like, God, is she gonna read it? I am, I'm not delaying it, but I do like to match up some of the tea you give me with the show that I'm watching because it's it just makes sense. But now I can reach out. Not only that, I don't take for granted, not one moment, that you are listening to my voice on a weekly basis most of the time. I wanna hear you. Not only is there a feature for me to respond back to you, but now you can leave your girl a voicemail. Leave me a voicemail, and you can tell me all about your experience with the show, whether you're new or old to the show, who your favorite characters are, if you think one storyline was BS or whatever, it doesn't really matter. Now we can have a little bit more interaction, thus strengthening this vintage primetime soap opera community. So, just to review, check the show notes if you're listening on your mobile device. There is a link to not only send a text, but to send a voicemail. Or you can do it the good old-fashioned way. I feel so weird saying email is old-fashioned, but email's like 30 years old. So yeah, it is. Reach out to me at soaploorpodcast at gmail.com, S-O-A-P-L-O-R-E, P-O-D-C-A-S T at gmail.com. I'm also working on another thing. Maybe we can meet once a month, have a call or something. I got a couple ideas, so just stick with your girl. I'll talk to you soon. Stay hydrated, stay moisturized, mind your own business, and keep all of your drama on TV.
